Our Story

The Name

Inspired by Professor Reuben R. Cañete, our beloved late Tito, we named our restaurant 'Faro' after the Spanish word for ‘lighthouse’. The word itself is originated from Ancient Greek Egyptians who adorned and were in awe of the light omitted from the lighthouse. They referred to it by the title of the King of Egypt, also well-known to us now as 'Pharaoh'.

Also inspired by Tito Reuben, one of our featured dish is Reuben's Signature Tapas served with Sangria. It is a platter of Beef Sirloin Strips, Calamaris, Buffalo Wings, and Pork BBQ Skewers, perfect for sharing.

The Concept

Rebranding 'Sugba Sugba sa Parola' to 'Faro', we renovated the physical space and re-innovated the whole menu and brand.

We are now a multi-faceted space - not only are we a restaurant, but we are also an events venue and landmark.

The Location

Faro sits on the hilltop, away from the hustle and bustle, and overlooks a spectacular panoramic view of the seaside where you can catch the beautiful skyline of Lapu Lapu by day and the moon river by night. It is the perfect serenity hideaway for coffee scented afternoons, sunny weekend brunch buffets, and quiet wine and dine evenings.

Inspired by Spanish Mediterranean styles and modern Industrial designs, the restaurant is installed with large windows to infuse the space with bright natural lighting. If you prefer to lounge under the sun, Faro also offers a spacious outdoor area for alfresco dining.

Located beside Liloan’s century old historic landmark, Parola Lighthouse of Bagacay Point, Faro is about 3 kilometers away from Liloan municipal town proper and about 18 kilometers away from Cebu city.

The Cuisine

Serving both Classic Filipino comfort food and a variety of Mediterranean cuisine, Faro specializes in handmade pizzas made from scratch and baked in our brick oven, gourmet pastas served with our special sauce, fresh seafood dishes, and a selection of beef, veil, pork, and poultry. Using our family's beloved home cooking recipes and techniques for our Filipino dishes,
